Abstract
The silicates, zircon and hafnon were synthesised from the constituent oxides. In both cases, synthesis was essentially complete after heating for 24 hours at 1450° C. X-ray diffraction studies confirmed complete solid solubility in the system ZrSiO4 - HfSiO4.
