Abstract
The reaction of powdered tellurium with phenylacetylene under strongly basic conditions yields cis̲ and trans̲-2, 6- diphenyl-1, 4-ditellurafulvenes, rather than Z̲ and E̲ isomers of a five-membered cyclic ditelluride, as recently reported.
