Abstract
The results of LIII-edge X-ray absorption, bremsstrahlung-isochromat spectroscopy, and valence-band photoemission measurements are reported for the series of compounds CeX2Si2 (with X=Fe, Co, Ni). In view of the known lattice-constant anomalies of these compounds, it is concluded that the Ce-4f electrons hybridize with ligand orbitals.
