Abstract
The results of electrical resistivity (θ) measurements on the pseudoternary solid solutions, Ce1−wYwPd2Ge2 and Ce1−vLavPd2Ge2, in the temperature interval 1.4-300K show that the substitution involving Y is less effective in depressing the Néel temperature of Ce sub-lattice than the La substitution in CePd2Ge2 (TN⋍5.1K). This observation could be interpreted in terms of the existence of a competition between the two phenomena- magnetism and Kondo effect- in this system. We present evidence to show that the electronic structure changes following iso-valent ionic substitutions should not be ignored in any quantitative understanding of such competing phenomena.
