Abstract
In this paper, a code-set for a 8.25 Mbps data rate is proposed for IEEE 802.11b system that can act as a better fall back option than 5.5 Mbps when the 11 Mbps data rate is not sustainable in large delay spread channel environment. We present a systematic procedure for the design of complementary code-set. The proposed code-set requires 2.3 to 10 dB less SNR when compared to 5.5 Mbps data rate, in benign to large delay spread environment. The additional resources requirement for including this data rate in an existing 802.11b transceiver is minimal.
