Abstract
Quadrupole polarizabilities αq have been calculated for Fe3+, Co4+, Ni5+, and Cu6+ (in 3d5 configuration) and Ru3+, Rh4+, Pd5+, and Ag6+ (in 4d5 configuration) by means of the Hartree-Fock-Slater wave functions and the Sternheimer differential-equation procedure. In the cases of Fe3+ and Ru3+, αq values of 0.14 and 0.52 Å5, respectively, are obtained.
