Abstract
The upper and lower bounds for the transition temperature in a transverse Ising model are derived using random phase decoupling in the equation of motion method for the Green function. The results agree closely with that of Bunde and Lam (see Phys. Lett. A vol.58, p.234 (1976)) who used the Blume-Hubbard decoupling scheme. The effect of proton-lattice coupling has also been discussed.
