Abstract

Reactions of allyl, propargyl, benzyl, and alkynyl bromides with diorganodiselenides in the presence of stannous chloride and catalytic cupric halide result in the formation of corresponding unsymmetrical selenides in good to excellent yields via a novel dicopper(selenophenyl) intermediate.
