Abstract
The shape-selective properties of ZSM-48 in the isomerisation of meta-xylene and methylation of toluene have been studied and compared with those of other medium-pore zeolites with 10-membered pore openings like ZSM-5, -22, and -23. The shape selectivity of these zeolites in meta-xylene isomerisation and methylation of toluene decreases in the order ZSM-22 ≈ ZSM-23 > ZSM-48 > ZSM-5. These differences are explained on the basis of subtle differences in the shape and geometry of their pore and void structures.
