Abstract
Models which regard the decimet B* as a composite of the octet baryons and octet pseudoscalar mesons usually give excessively large SU(3) violations for the B∗ because of the large mass differences within the baryon octet and meson octet. A model with B* as an elementary particle is constructed, and it is shown that in this model this difficulty can be resolved.
