Abstract

The τ polarization has a fairly significant effect on the charged Higgs signature at the hadron colliders. It is best seen in the τ μ channel followed by the pionic decay of τ . The average pτ of the pion originating from the W boson is only about half of that originating from a charged Higgs of comparable mass. This can be used to improve the signal/background ratio by a factor of ~ 3. It can also serve as an independent signature for the charged Higgs boson.
