A preliminary review of pteromalidae (Hymneoptera) of India and adjacent countries

Abstract

An up-dated list of Preromalidae of the Indian subcontinent, with comments on various taxa and new records of hosts and distribution is provided. It includes altogether 82 genera: 56 of them with 86 identified species, another 26 genera in which the species could not be identified. The necessary taxonomic re-classification results in many changes, including 21 generic transfers (new combinations), 30 new specific synonymies and in 3 cases generic changes or synonymies (under Cephaleta, Propicroscytus and Zolotarewskya). The taxa excluded from the family are listed separately. The study is based on examination of all accessible old and new material, including many types (lectotypes of 13 specific names are also designated).
