Abstract
A modification in the (harmonic) kernel of a QCD-oriented Bethe-Salpeter equation known for good fits to qq̅ and qqq spectroscopy gives a comprehensive description of qq̅ , Qq̅ , and QQ̅ systems. The new assumptions are (i) proportionality of the "reduced" spring constant ω2 to as (ω2=ω02as) and (ii) the replacement r2→r2/(1+A0m1m2r2)1/2-c0/ω02. These provide a more direct QCD motivation for confinement and effect a smooth transition from harmonic (qq̅) to linear (QQ̅) confinement.
