Abstract

Heat capacities and densities of liquid n-octane, n-nonane, n-decane, and n-hexadecane have been measured at temperatures from 318.15 K to 373.15 K and at pressures up to 10 MPa using a d.s.c. and a vibrating-tube densimeter, respectively. Both molar heat capacities Cp,m and molar volumes Vm (derived from densities) have been fitted simultaneously as double power series satisfying the relation: (∂Cp,m/∂p)T=-T(∂2Vm/∂T2)p. The results have also been compared with experimental literature values.
