Abstract

Poses three questions relevant to the inflationary scenario. Previous works in the line are critically examined and it is found that in a Universe with widely different conditions at its different regions, some regions would experience exponential expansion. Even then the exponential expansion may not result in the removal of shear, spatial curvature and the horizon difficulty. The problem of an ambiguity in splitting up the (3+1) manifold into 3-space and time as affecting physical conclusions is emphasised.
