Abstract

Time-dependent equations for the pairing and density matrices have been written down using a suitable Bloch-Messiah representation. This representation is obtained by utilising the symmetry of the density matrix under a symmetry operation S other than time-reversal so that a pair of degenerate eigenstates of the density matrix be conjugate of each other with respect to S. The effect of phase incoherence in reducing the pairing potential has been emphasized and the analogy with the Coriolis problem pointed out.
