Abstract
This paper deals with the analysis of fading records from four spaced receivers of pulsed radio waves reflected at vertical incidence from the ionosphere, with a view to finding out the shape of lines of maxima and evolve a better method of calculating wind data. The usual three-station method of measurement of ionospheric winds using average displacements is found to give inaccurate results. It is shown that the method of calculating wind data using median values of displacements gives reliable results. A new and improved method of analysing wind records for evaluation of true velocities and direction is also presented.
