Abstract
By heating lead sulphide cleavages at 800°C in a vacuum chamber (pressure ≈10-5torr) whiskers of lead sulphide of about 140μm width and about 400μm length have been grown on the cleavage. The whiskers were etched in a solution of concentrated HCl and 53.5 g/litre NH4Cl in the ratio (1:5) and it was found that the density of the dislocations is of the order of 106cm-2.
