Abstract

An improved design of the modified gel technique is described which facilitates the growth of larger and more perfect single crystals from gels. The important feature of this novel design is that uniform concentration gradients can be maintained for longer period without disruption of the gel, in addition to advantages of all other related gel growth techniques so far reported in the literature. Lead iodide (PbI2) single crystals upto 30mm length and 20mm breadth have been grown by the present design.
