Abstract
Histidine α-deaminase activity of the stratum corneum has been measured in normal subjects and in patients with vitamin B12 and folate deficiency. The enzyme levels in the patients were significantly lower than in the controls. Enzyme levels returned to normal following treatment with vitamin B12 and/or folic acid.
