Abstract
Tris-derivatives of Sb(III) with nine 1,3-diketones have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and spectral studies. In these monomeric compounds the usual mode of bonding, i.e., through carbonyl oxygens, has been observed in which the antimony atom attains a coordination number six. Attempts have also been made to elucidate with the help of IR and PMR data the effect of different substituents at 1 and 3 positions on the chelating ability of the ring. A cis configuration has been proposed for the tris-complexes containing unsymmetrical ligands.
