Abstract
Ph3SbBr2 reacts with Na[RCOCHCOR'] to form compounds of the type Ph3SbBr(RCOCHCOR') (where R = R' = CH3, C(CH3)3 and R R' = CH3, C6H5; CH3, 4'-MeC6H4; CH3, 4'-MeOC6H4; CH3, 4'-ClC6H4; CH3, 4'BrC6H4 and CF3, 2-C4H3S). Reactions of Ph3Sb(OMe)2 with RCOCH2COR' yield Ph3Sb(OMe) (RCOCHCOR'). From molecular weight, IR and NMR data, it is concluded that 1,3-diketone ligand moiety behaves as a bidentate ligand in these complexes. The stereochemistries of the complexes containing both symmetrical and unsymmetrical ligand are discussed.
