Alkoxides and alkylalkoxides of metals and metalloids

Abstract

Although alkoxides of a number of metals have been known and employed as catalysts for specific organic reactions for a long time, it is only since about 1950 that the subject has grown at a rapid pace (about 2/3rd of 315 references given at the end belong to the post-1960 period). In the periodic table given below, elements whose alkoxide chemistry has received attention during the last two decades are placed within a frame-work and the encircled ones are those on which work has been carried out in our laboratories also. A number of review articles (30-33, 165, 175, 227, 241, 296) dealing with different aspects of the subject have appeared recently.
