Abstract
Utilizing the n → π∗ blue-shift phenomenon, hydrogen-bonding capacity of a proton in N-H group of various amines has been estimated. The equilibrium constant for hydrogen-bond formation has been found to increase with a decrease in base character, i.e., with an increase in proton-donor character of the amines.
