Abstract
From the study of the temperature effect on the expansion-contraction behaviour of a partially hydrolysed polymethyl acrylate gel film, it has been established that the mechano-chemical behaviour in this system is not purely an entropic effect and that there is appreciable energy contribution. A probable explanation for the cause of such energy effect has been suggested.
