Abstract

The hydrothermal reaction of ZnCl2, V2O5, 1,3-diaminopropane in water at 155°C for 120 h produces [(NH3(CH2)3NH)Zn]23+ [V4O13]6-, I. The connectivity between ZnO3N and VO4 tetrahedral units gives rise to a unique layered architecture, with the amine molecule directly bonded to the Zn center pointing in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the layers. The presence of V4O13 linear chains in I is noteworthy.
