Abstract
13 rhesus monkeys were immunised with the beta-subunit of HCG or its fragments conjugated with tetanus toxoid or haptens for periods of 3 to 12 months. Of these, 9 monkeys had been given the tetanus toxoid conjugates. Immediate, Arthus and delayed type of hypersensitivity skin reactions to intradermal HCG were found to be negative in all the animals. However, 2 of the hyperimmunized monkeys in which complete Freund's adjuvant was used, showed delayed hypersensitivity skin reactions when challenged with tetanus toxoid.
