Abstract

Ion-beam-induced microstructural modifications in the α-Fe2O3 matrix are investigated by using conversion-electron Mossbauer spectroscopy; small-angle x-ray diffraction techniques. It is shown that with an increase in ion dose the system tends to precipitate into spinel ferrite structures. It is also shown that the effect of heating during implantation is distinctly different as compared to the postannealing treatment.
