Abstract
Multiply-imaged quasars have generally been explained as a combination of gravitational lensing by galaxies and magnification by clusters. The observational difficulties with this view suggest that some such quasars may be more naturally interpreted as images split by the cores of very rich clusters. The observational distinctions between the two models are discussed.
