Abstract
The vector-meson mixing model for the SU(3)-symmetry-breaking mechanism has been considered in order to obtain the various broken-symmetry SU(3) coupling-constant sum rules. In addition to all the SU(3) results of the previous authors, we find a new sum rule which is contained in the broken SU(6) symmetry. The method has also been extended to drive the baryon-magnetic-moment sum rules to all orders of electromagnetic and to first order of strong symmetry-breaking interactions. Okubo's results have been rederived. Finally, using the Goldberger-Treiman relations and the new B-BP coupling-constant sum rules obtained here, we have re-examined Cabibbo's assumptions of the axial weak interactions for the leptonic decay modes of the baryons.
