Abstract
We investigate in this work the commonly used finite difference approximation to hardness (operational hardness) and show its behaviour when atomic coordinates are changed in the molecule. This paper throws light on the trend of operational hardness and its implication. The relation between operational hardness and electronic energy is also discussed.
