Abstract

Scheier [P.Scheier, M. Lezius, N. Du‾nser, R. Robl, B. Schiestl and T.D. Ma‾rk, Int. J. Mass Spectrom. Ion Processes, 125 (1993) R17] compared the ionisation cross section function obtained by them for the electron impact ionisation of C60 with similar data reported by us earlier. The agreement is good in the low and high energy regions. The peak they noticed in our curve is an experimental artifact. However, the structure of the curve in the energy range 15-35 eV is real and has been confirmed by us through repeated measurements.
