Abstract
Spontaneously excited dust acoustic oscillations are studied in a dusty plasma cloud that is in the strongly coupled fluid regime. As the gas pressure in this DC glow discharge experiment is reduced in a controlled manner the oscillations are seen to change from a coherent to a turbulent state through higher harmonic excitations. A simple explanation of the nonlinear features of the saturated spectrum is provided using a viscoelastic theory of dusty plasmas.
