Abstract
The stability of obliquely propagating ion cyclotron waves to current flow along the magnetic field lines, in a fully ionised plasma, is examined using fluid equations. It is shown that when a certain threshold current is exceeded, instability results through normally dissipative terms like parallel resistivity, thermal conductivity, etc.
