Abstract
In this communication the optimum seeding of helium with caesium, to obtain maximum conductivity at various electric fields (and electron temperatures Te) has been investigated using the latest data on dependence of electron collision cross sections on electron velocity. An interesting result is the fact that the optimum ratio a of the number of caesium to helium atoms is given by α = 3.6 × 10-4 Te½ where Te is expressed in °K. A relationship between the electron temperature and the applied electric field has also been obtained for the interesting case of optimum seeding.
