Abstract
The evaluation of the partial structure factors of molten salts is a difficult and important task. The one-component plasma method is applied to molten salts to evaluate the structure factor of like charges. In this case a system of charged hard spheres (CHS) in a neutralising background is assumed. Such a system of charged hard spheres is solved for the direct correlation function (DCF) by Palmer and Weeks in a mean spherical approximation. The structure factor is obtained with their charged hard sphere model and the effect of like charge repulsion is optimised by γ -expansion. Thus with the use of this model as a reference inside the core while the Coulomb repulsion acts outside the core as a perturbation over the charged hard spheres the partial structure factor is obtained of like charges of fused salts such as NaCl and KBr. The results obtained are in good agreement with the experimental data.
