Abstract

The structure factor of like charges of molten salts are evaluated through the one-component plasma (OCP) approximation. A system of charged hard spheres (CHS) is assumed embedded in a neutralizing background of opposite charges inside the core and the potential is perturbed with a Coulomb repulsive term outside the core, to obtain the partial structures of like charges in molten alkali earth halides. The effect of the unlike charges is optimized by γ -expansion. The results obtained are in good agreement with both, experimental (SrCl2 and BaCl2) and computer simulation (CaF2) results.
