Abstract
Perchlorocyclopentadiene, C5Cl6, and Mn2(CO)10 produce C5Cl5., Cl. and (CO)5Mn. radicals upon UV-irradiation, and these then react among themselves to give ultimately Mn(η 1-C5Cl5)(CO)5, Mn(CO)5Cl, and C10Cl10. The products were characterised by elemental analysis, IR and mass spectral studies. The mass spectrum of pentacarbonyl(η 1-pentachlorocyclopentadienyl)manganese is discussed.
