Abstract
Binary ceramic semiconductor composites, prepared by sintering zinc oxide with barium oxide, exhibit nonohmic behavior owing to the presence of barium oxide. The nonlinearity parameter is strongly dependent on the composition and microstructure of the composite and has a maximum value of 50 for 10-mol% BaO. At BaO concentrations of ≥50 mol% the composite exhibits ohmic behavior due to the absence of a well-defined two-phase grain-intergranular microstructure.
