Abstract

YBa2Cu3Ox has been prepared by the coprecipitation of metal ion oxalates from mixed solvents using triethylammoniumoxalate. This method permits easier fabrication of a single phasic superconducting material. Superconducting properties have been found to depend on the temperature of sintering and on the pelletization pressure. Use of CuO in excess of the stoichiometry has been found to enhance grain growth and superconducting properties. The volume fraction of superconducting phase as high as 70% at 77 K has been obtained in optimized samples.
