Abstract

The present work analyses the role of fluctuations for a class of reacting systems involving one or more than one variable using the expansion method. General equations are formulated and illustrated by considering specific examples. The analysis indicates that fluctuations cannot always be ignored and that their monitoring can lead to additional information regarding the system. The specific cases analysed are discussed.
