Abstract
Polymer science and engineering is a truly multidisciplinary area. Polymer synthesis in itself is important, but the role played by non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, rheology and the important interactions of these in polymer processing are indeed very unique. An overview of some of the recent and exciting developments in polymer engineering is presented which outline dimensions for future research. The role of polymer engineering in modern polymer development and absorption has been highlighted with special reference to Indian conditions.
