Abstract
The structure of the null vectors in c=25 Liouville theory is analysed, and used to study the spectrum of physical states in the c=1 string. The occurrence and nature of two kinds of "extra states" is examined: the Polyakov-type states of fixed ghost number, and the Lian-Zuckerman-type states of increasing ghost number.
