Abstract
Polarized optical spectra of three planar low-spin d8 complexes, Ni(detc)2, NiCl(detc) (PPh3) and Pd(detc)2 (where detc is diethyldithiocarbamate and PPh3 is triphenylphosphine), are reported. The assignments of the spectral transitions were made based on the d-level ordering xy>yz>x2-y2⇒xz>z2. The observed spectral bands in all three complexes are correlated with each other.
