Abstract

It is shown that the grain material should be of the silicate type in order to produce the observed polarization reversal in the comet Ikeya-Seki. The polarization reversal is shown to arise as a result of the segregation of different sizes of grains in the tail of the comet due to the effect of radiation pressure.
