Abstract
Excess of cadmium was incorporated in sprayed CdS films by appropriately varying the solution composition. Its effect on the electrical and structural properties of the films has been studied. It appears that excess cadmium segregates at the grain boundaries, thereby changing the electrical properties. Similarly, introduction of oxygen, which is an acceptor in CdS, and removal of residual oxygen by annealing in an N2 and H2 atmosphere affect the electrical transport properties. It is inferred that the electrical properties are a sensitive function of the grain boundary potential.
