Abstract
Cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants fascinated me since I was a student. It was an untrodden field and there was scope for some contribution if it could be taken up on scientific lines. I had heard the names of Cinchona and Pyrethrum under cultivation but had not ever seen these plants. There were scores of other medicinal plants which were available in the market but their source was from wild growth in forests or forest blanks [clear areas in forest].
