Abstract

GA was applied in different concentration to the seedlings of Anethum sp. at preflowering stage. It produced the usual gibberellin effects: early flowering, longer and thicker stems. In specific doses the increase of the oil in the seed was upto 50 per cent in A. graveolens and on an average upto 30 per cent in A. sowa. There was no significant increase in the Carvone content of A. graveolens in lower concentrations but in higher concentrations there seemed to be a slight increase in the carvone from the B. P. limits. Possibilities for the increase in the oil yield are also indicated.
