Abstract
Penta(phenoxy)chlorocyclotriphosphazene [N3P3 (OPh)5Cl (1)] reacts with "(hydroxy)" phosphazenes, N3P3(OPh)5(OH) (2), N3P3(OMe)5(OH) (3) and gem-N3P3(NHBut)2(OMe)2(OH)(4) to give P-O-P bridged cyclophosphazenes, [N3P3(OPh)5]2O (5), [N3P3(OPh)5]O[N3P3(OMe)5] (6) and [N3P3(OPh)5]O[N3P3(NHBu')2(OMe)3] (7) respectively. The products are characterised by IR and NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The P-O-P bridge of compound 5 is readily cleaved by various nucleophiles.
