Abstract

Release of active ingredients from rubbery matrices is known to follow the well-established Higuchi relationship. However, the release of p-nitrobenzoic acid from a swollen hydrogel matrix in which the moiety is covalently linked to the pendent chain of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate folhws zero-order release kinetics. The results have been explained on the basis of the structural changes in the matrix.
